Zelnorm
Zelnorm is a drug that is commonly used to treat severe constipation in both male and female patients. Women also use it frequently to treat irritable bowel syndrome. The general cause for constipation is that the intestinal muscle has fewer contraction than normal. Serotonin, the active ingredient of Zelnorm works to increase muscular contractions thus reducing the constipation.
About Zelnorm
Zelnorm is used to treat several levels of constipation as well as irritable bowel syndrome in women who haven’t reached the age of 65. Men can also use Zelnorm, but it has been proven to be more effective in women’s IBS.
How to take
- Follow your doctor’s indications step by step
- Treatment of two pills before meals is recommended for a period of a month to a month and a half.
- Let your doctor know if you don’t see any improvements after taking it for more than 40 days
- Even if you feel better, continue your treatment as indicated, since Zelnorm doesn’t cure IBS.
- If you miss a dose take as soon as possible but if is close to the next dose just ski it and return to the schedule .Remember to take it as you programmed because two doses at once are not indicated.
Do not take more than one dose at once, not even if you have missed a prior dosage.
Warnings
- Even though Zelnorm is safe for pregnant and lactating mothers it is best if you ask your doctor first
- Always inform your doctor if you suffer from liver, kidney disease or diarrhea.
- Avoid ingesting if you think you are allergic to any of it ingredients
- Never take more than prescribed and if you do seek medical attention ASAP.
- Inform the doctor of any other medications you are taking before he prescribes you Zelnorm.
Zelnorm Side Effects
Common side effects:
- headache, dizziness
- abdominal pain
Other unusual side effects have been reported too:
- increased appetite
- visual disturbance
- hypotension
- psychiatric disorders: depression, sleeping problems
Some serious side effects have been reported. From this reason FDA restricted the use of Zelnorm because a large number of patients treated with Zelnorm showed serious complications. Among these are serious cardiovascular complications including heart attack and strokes. So patients who experience breast chest or trouble breathing should go immediately to the doctor.
Storage
Zelnorm should be stored at room temperature out of the reach of children, protected from sunlight and heat.
